Asian-Inspired Island Retreat

House Description:
This little thatch roofed house sits atop a small hill. Situated far from the main island, but featuring a good sized dining room and a decent amount of outdoor space, this home is perfect for the sim that likes being alone but isn’t adverse to some good parties.

  • Views from the windows of this airy home include the surrounding beaches, isles, and horizon.
  • Floor one begins with the closed foyer featuring a set of double doors into the rest of the home and spiral stairs leading up. Beyond that is a large dining room for guests (what is with me putting giant tables in 1 bed 1.5 bath homes??), a moderate sized eat-in kitchen, and down a hallway, a small living room and half bath.
  • Floor two starts with the landing from the spiral stairs. To one side is the office/guest bedroom. To the other side is the very large master bedroom and master bath.
  • Outside is a small zen garden and some green space.

Built from scratch. Really, this was just an excuse to use some of the more eastern inspired furniture that otherwise doesn’t really fit into most of my design schemes. ‘Retreat’ because it’s located so far away from everything else. There’s actually mist around it unless the nearby secret islands are discovered.

Not overly fond of it. The layout is awkward. I like the kitchen, the way the bed and master bedroom and bathroom looks. That’s about it. Should’ve swapped the living and dining spaces or something.


The Temperate Mermaid Resort & Hotel

Business Location:
40 x 40 lot located in Sunset Valley at 1 Pi R Cilium Lane.

Business Contents:
10 guest suites { 5 basic suites, 2 mid suites, 1 honey moon suite
numerous common areas, pool, etc.

Business Description:
This fanciful mildly Atlantis-inspired resort/hotel is great for sims visiting SV or for sims that wan’t to relax without leaving town.

  • Views from this business include down town and the surrounding mountains and bay.
  • Floor one (Floors and this building go from top to bottom numerically.) contains a dance hall on the right side of the building and a small museum/aquarium on the left side.
  • Floor two begins with the two story tall lobby, which is flanked by another room to the right containing a sitting area and MF specific restrooms. The left of the lobby contains displayed sculptures and art as well as the entrance to the grand stairwell.
  • Floor three contains a basic and two mid-price suites and the honeymoon suite which has its own small balcony.
  • Floor four has four basic rooms and two mid-price suites.
  • Floor five is guest services and as such contains restrooms, a breakfast room with long food tables, a small gym, mens’ and womens’ locker rooms, two masseuse rooms with additional large waiting room, and a sauna with its own dedicated locker room.
  • Outside, in the front is the parking lot with a small garden with benches and in back is a large pool with lounge chairs and a view of the town. There’s a diving board and a waterfall for the pool, as well.

Built from scratch using this tutorial. There are a lot of photos. For so few rooms this is a big hotel.

There are a few shots of a ‘previous version’ that was built and then lost because I’m still having saving loop issues when I use debug items. This also means the lighting isn’t as consistent here as I’d like it to be. It was supposed to be even more aquatic themed with giant corals and starfish everywhere… maybe huge strands of seaweed in the grand stairwell but since the debug category hates me.. well, that didn’t happen.

Phyre Moon Cottage; Beach Edition

House Description:
This little thatch roofed octagonal house sits atop a small hill overlooking two beaches. It’s warm tropical colour scheme, airy windows, small gazebo covered pool and views make it the perfect little getaway home for the sim that doesn’t relish being around others.

  • Views from the windows of this airy home include the surrounding beaches, isles, and horizon.
  • Floor one is a large living/dining/kitchen area (edit: that admittedly is way too big for a recluse sim, just go with it~) whose ceiling is supported by a large, fantastically painted column. There’s a half wall dividing the living space from the master suite and half bath doors, giving them a little more privacy. There is a smaller octagonal bedroom with master bath.
  • Outside the front of this cottage is a path connecting the two beaches. A white picket fence deters passersby from getting closer. The front and back of the home each sport a front porch and there is a stone pathway leading to a gazebo with a pool. Under a queen palm, there is a lounge chair and a fire pit. Surrounding the home  is a moderate sized garden with fruits and veggies, fruit trees,  and palm trees. Out back, (on a separate lot) there is a boat dock.

Built from scratch. Originally, this sim (the one from Phyre Moon Cottage) was to be in a bigger house on a more outlying island, but this one seemed cozier and more practical and I already had the walls and roof up when I moved her in.

I was going to add a second floor but it just seemed like too much. The dock doesn’t really work well for boats, it’s mostly for looks, though sims can lounge on it.

Siar Bonus Town Home

20  x 20 lot located in Sunset Valley on Mirabello Rd., just behind the Bistro.

0 sims { (room for 1-2) this house is big enough for a single sim or a couple.

House Description:
This home sits in Downtown Sunset Valley and commands views primarily consisting of the beach and bay beyond.

  • Views primarily consist of the nearby Old Pier Beach and the bay beyond, though bits of downtown can be seen.
  • Floor one contains a small open concept kitchen and living room, special nook with a 2 story window for the dining table, and a half bath. There are spiral stairs up to the second floor and down to the finished but unfurnished basement.
  • Floor two contains a wide open hallway, a very small office, a good sized master suite with four piece bath.
  • Outside, there is a small patio with a table, chairs, and a hot tub. There’s a one car garage and a small yard with open space not belonging to the house but surrounding it for extra room to hang out.

Built from scratch.

I built this home as extra space for the older two children of the Siar household and it’s owned by the whole family. I mostly just wanted space for them to hang out. I’ve considered adding a second bedroom over the garage so they could both stay there, but that would change the architecture too much.

Apparently my thing is to take that fireplace and put windows on either side. I do like the brick and wood, though. I avoided windows on the left side of the house facing the bistro to keep a bit of privacy and placed a fanned plant in front of the window in the kitchen so it’s hard to see in but not as hard to see out.

Phyre Moon Cottage (Take 2)

House Description:
Sitting on the alpine banks of an inlet in Hidden Springs, this home oozes privacy and tranquility for the sim that likes to garden and be alone.

  • Views from this home consist of the surrounding alpine mountains and the inlet behind the house.
  • Floor one has a quaint front porch, open concept living/dining/kitchen space, a small hallway (with display shelf for collectibles), a master suite with 4 piece bath, a spare room for guests, and a full guest bath with (nonworking) laundry.
  • Floor two is simply a loft above the main living space with room for a computer desk, bookshelf, and art area in the dormer.
  • Outside is a stone driveway, beautiful flowered front yard, very abundant flower garden connecting the bedroom and kitchen patios, a good sized edibles garden and a greenhouse for gardening during the winter months.

Smaller circle on the location photos is the fruit stand I had set up for her, since it wasn’t attracting customers on her own lot.

Built from scratch. The first PMC was lost when my old hard drive died. It was built for a friend’s sim. Even though she no longer plays, I couldn’t help remaking the place.

The sim is based on her and made by her, though the hair has been changed since I don’t have the hair she’d used. The Gardening outfits and the outerwear outfit are also put together for this sim by me, though I didn’t make any of the content.

I’m going to apologize. There’s a million photos but I worked really hard on this one. So much harder than most of my other houses, whether it’s obvious or not. We chatted on TeamSpeak while I built in the beginning, asking what she liked and didn’t like. She had input into several aspects of the design.

I really like how this turned out with the exception of a few things.
First, the loft. I feel it needs to be just a little less open, maybe. I’m also having BuyDebug Saving Loop problems, so in the end, had to put that blue light on the wall since I couldn’t have invisible light continuing from above.
Also, the blue of the living room, red of the kitchen and white of the walls turned out a little more Americana than I meant for it to. She’s Canadian. I just liked the blue curtains and was doing *all* the walls white and she’d wanted a red kitchen of some sort… I didn’t realise til later on how RWB it was. Whoops.
